From the 24th to the 26th of June, the TDWI Conference celebrated its 15th anniversary. Since it was started, the event has been an integral part of the calendar of Business Intelligence professionals and Analytics experts. With over 6,000 members worldwide, TDWI is the largest neutral & independent community for data and insights in Europe.
In addition to other top-notch speakers, Lasse Klüver was also on stage. This time not for minubo, but on behalf of the Commerce Reporting Standard (CRS), an initiative of Project A and minubo to establish an industry standard for metrics in eCommerce and omni-channel retail. In his half-hour presentation, "The Challenge of the Data Model: How the Commerce Reporting Standard Helps", Lasse illustrated why the data model is critical to the quality of a BI solution and what challenges organizations face in designing and implementing a sustainable, high-performance data model. He also explained how the CRS can remedy this problem with a uniform industry standard. Every retail company can access it freely and benefit from the shared knowledge - regardless of the specific technologies they use. The vision: By bundling best practices into one comprehensive model, retailers now have a shortcut to a data-driven decision-making culture - while enabling easier industry benchmarking.
